Another book finished! Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell... If you like thriller maybe you will like this book. It is well written, the plot is somewhat interesting but honestly this is not the kind of book for me. I don't remember why I bought it but now I know I will not buy another book of this Scarpetta thriller book series. Too much unrealistic, Hollywood movie thriller. Come on the hero is a too much of a genious forensic pathologist. The niece is a millionaire, ex-rambo with crazy computer hacking skills. Then there is also the too politically correct treatment of a lesbian relationship... Sorry boring!!

Banana bread joy or how not to waste overriped bananas

Before moving to America, I had never heard of banana bread. Honestly I found the idea strange. But one day I tried... And loved it...

The ingenious thing about banana bread apart from its deliciousness, is that it is also a great way not to waste overriped bananas...

My recipe:
115g of brown sugar
115g of butter
250g of flour
a teaspoon of baking powder
a pinch of salt
2 eggs
5 bananas
a teaspoon of vanilla extract

Preheat oven at 350.
In a bowl, cream butter with sugar.
Add banana and beaten eggs.
Add vanilla extract.
Add flour, baking poser and salt.
Mix well.
Bake in oven for an hour.

Simple Fried Rice

Fried rice is one of my quick and easy dish I regularly do. It is very simple and works with pretty much any veggies.

The fried rice pictured here was made using:
-jasmine rice
-salt and pepper

Because I am a cheese freak, I add parmesan cheese or feta cheese on top right before eating...

The Name of the Rose

Just finished reading "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco. Loved it!!! The book combines a detective story, lots of philosophical/theological discussions and historical facts on the church and politics of the middle age. However, to fully understand everything I might need to read it again, after learning more on all this. I got a little lost with the different church groups, (Fransiscan, Benedictes, Minorites) and the papal history...

Reading right now:

The Refillery

Great news for the eco-friendly of Santa Barbara. The refillery just opened on de la vina street.
